A change of leaders at Malaga

We have new leadership at our Malaga branch. Ron Probert’s, the Manager for some 30 years, has retired to pass the baton on to Sukhdev Singh.

Sukhdev is by no means a newcomer. He has worked as a foreman at the Malaga branch for 25 years.

Ron, a trade diesel fitter, joined Majors when we were at Belmont.

He worked there for 3 years before taking to Malaga – with just himself and toolbox.

Over the years under his helm, the branch has grown to have 28 people, including a spare parts division—a far cry from its humble beginnings of just Ron and a toolbox.

Ron says his passing the baton to Sukhdev will mean few changes, as they were a great team that worked well together over the 25 years.

So what does retirement hold for him?

By the sounds of it, things will be busy as he is undertaking some work on his caravan, he has a 66 GT Mustang, a 67 Camaro and an MGB to play with. Furthermore, he and his better half have a family of two now adult children who have produced one grand-child with another two on the way.

Sukhdev Singh, better known as Singh, began working as a mechanic in Singapore before moving to Melbourne where he worked for a transport company for three years.

He joined Major Motors, and it wasn’t long before he caught up with Ron at the Malaga Branch – 46 Crocker Drive with a team totalling five.

Now, the team of 28 at 65 Crocker Drive includes five on-road members: three field technicians, one electrician, and the recently appointed tail lift specialist.

Singh is a valued member of our team who we know will give the Malaga branch capable leadership to be a good follower in Ron Probert’s footsteps.
